Scripture Reading: (Done by two narrators)

Psalms 150:1-6

Narrator 1: vs. 1: Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary. Praise Him in the firmament of his power.

Narrator 2: vs. 2:Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

Narrator 1:  vs 3: Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

Narrator 2: vs 4: Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

Narrator 1: vs 5: Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

Together: vs 6: Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

Prayer: Ask a young person to offer a prayer of thanksgiving.

Narrator 1: Happy Sabbath and welcome to our evening of Psalm, Thanksgiving and Praise.

Narrator 2: We trust that as you join us today, your hearts will be blessed and that our praise will go ascend to God as a sweet-smelling perfume. Let us lift our voices and sing Hymn #1

*Ask the congregation to please sit*

The narrator can ask a member of the congregation to say which verse of hymn #1 touched them the most and why.

Narrators continue by reciting hymn #566 Father, We Thank You

Narrator 1: Verse 1

Father, we thank You for the light that shines all the day;

For the bright sky You have given most like Your heaven;

Father, we thank You.

Narrator 2: Verse 2

         Father, we thank You for the lamps that lighten the way;

For human skills exploration of Your creation;

Father, we thank You.

Narrator 1: Verse 3

         Father, we thank You for the friends who brighten our play;

For Your command to call others sisters and brothers;

Father, we thank You.

Narrator 2: Verse 4

         Father, we thank You for Your love in Jesus today,

Giving us hope for tomorrow through joy and sorrow;

Father, we thank You.

*Narrators give brief reasoning of why they love this song. Emphasizing the thanksgiving sections of it.*

❏ First Testimony (ask someone for this testimony prior)

❏ Sing Hymn 27: Rejoice Ye pure in heart

❏ Ask an older person to read/ recite their favorite Psalm and give the reason they love this Psalm

Narrator 1: To praise God in fullness and sincerity of heart is as much a duty as is prayer.

Narrator 2: We are to show to the world and to all the heavenly intelligence that we appreciate the incredible love of God for fallen humanity and that we are expecting abundant blessings from His infinite fullness.

Narrator 1: The Lord leaves us to make mention of His goodness and tell of His power.

Narrator 2: He is honored by the expression of praise and thanksgiving. He says, “Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me.”

❏ Read Psalm 147

❏ Second Testimony

❏ Sing Choruses with thanksgiving as the theme

❏ Ask someone else to repeat their favorite Psalm and testify why they love that scripture

❏ Sing Hymn #12

Hymn 560 Let All Things Now Living

Narrator 1:

Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving

To God the Creator triumphantly raise,

Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us,

Who guideth us on to the end of our days.

Narrator 2:

His banners are o’er us,

His light goes before us,

A pillar of fire shining forth in the night,

‘Til shadows have vanished and darkness is banished,

as forward, we travel from light into light.

Narrator 1:

His law He enforces the stars in their courses,

The sun in His orbit, obediently shine;

The hills and the mountains, the rivers and fountains,

The deeps of the ocean proclaim Him divine,

Narrator 2:

We too should be voicing our love and rejoicing,

With glad adoration a song let us raise,

‘Til all things now living unite in thanksgiving

To God in the highest, hosanna and praise.

The congregation will sing Psalms 100

Narrator 1: Let praise and thanksgiving be expressed in song.

Narrator 2: When tempted, instead of giving utterance to our feelings, let us by faith lift up a song of thanksgiving to God

Narrator 1: God deserves our praise

Narrator 2: Let us make a pledge to be more thankful and to keep a song in our hearts.

❏ Sing Hymn #4 Praise, My soul, the King of Heaven

❏ Final Prayer of Thanksgiving.
