GPS- Gods Powerful Scriptures
Box containing promises from the bible to give to congregation *
Opening Remarks
Happy Sabbath everyone!
Life can be rough and hard, even when you are faithful to God things can go very wrong. In the space of months, you can lose your job, lose your health, lose a loved one, lose your house, and/or lose your relationship.
In a matter of moments, life could spiral and become very chaotic and beyond your control. In these moments, digging deep to find God can seem like an impossible task. The waters of life can be choppy and navigating them can be difficult, but there is hope and we can learn how to navigate and rejoice in times of tribulation. God has given up a map for life called the Bible. It is filled with GPS (God's powerful scriptures) to navigate even the most difficult situations. God is here with us, He is able and He understands.
Today’s program is entitled GPS- God's powerful scriptures.
Scripture Reading:
(Isaiah 43:2) When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression (A feeling of being heavily weighed down in mind or body), you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.
Prayer:
- Pray for God's guiding hand in the lives of persons experiencing hardships
- Pray for healing for the sick
- Pray for provisions for persons in need
- Pray that we trust God at his work

#286 Wonderful Words of Life

*Suggestion: Share a personal experience where you endured a difficult time*
(My experience for context :)
Two years ago, I lost my job. Two months later, my husband also lost his job. We just had a new baby and it seemed like the end of the world.
This experience taught me that we must develop a close walk with Christ while things are good so that when things are hard, it’s easy to hear his voice so we can navigate through the difficulty we are faced.
It is important to ask what lessons I should learn here, instead of why God is doing this to me.
God tests us to make us stronger. And he has answered our prayers even before we have uttered them.
God speaks to us through his Word. In his word, he has left a myriad of promises to help us with every difficult situation. Do you agree?
Let us look at some scenarios where GPS (God's powerful scriptures) is useful.
Scenario 1: GPS for loss of a loved one
A young boy is swept up in floodwaters on his way home from school. The members of the family are all Christians who have been praying for God’s will. Unfortunately, the boy lost his life. What verses can be used to comfort the family?
Psalm 34:18
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 147:3
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
Revelation 21:4
‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Mission Story
We will now have the mission story followed by the secretary’s report

Scenario 2: GPS for illness
A young adult observed his mother being a little ill for months, then insisted she visits the doctor. At the visit, they learned she has Stage 3 ovarian cancer. What GPS will you use to comfort them?
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Jeremiah 30:17
"But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the LORD."
James 5:14-15
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven."
Scenario 3: GPS for loss of employment
A church member has lost her job and is in anguish. She recently got married and secured a mortgage. What GPS can you use to buoy her spirits up?
Philippians 4:19
"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."
Exodus 14:14
The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Proverbs 10:22
The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, without painful toil for it.
Matthew 6:25-26
Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Do we believe that God is faithful to deliver on his promises? Do we trust God at his Word. Do we know without a doubt that God provides, that God heals and that God restores? Let us continue to meditate on God's holy word to bring us comfort and assurance in times of need.
Lesson Study
Closing Remarks by the superintendent:
God is faithful to fulfill all his promises to his people. It is for us to read, memorize and believe his promises and claim them daily over our lives. God promises us deliverance if we trust, obey and believe. Let us trust God at his Word.
You may be experiencing illness, loss of earnings or a loss of a loved one. Search the scriptures for GPS to help you navigate these difficult times.
Dear brothers and sisters, let us understand that trouble in our way, is an opportunity for joy. Tested faith brings a chance to grow our endurance and spiritual muscles. So let us use these opportunities to let our endurance fully develop. This will make us strong and ready for anything, most importantly ready for the eternal Kingdom.
Sabbath School is now adjourned until next Sabbath
