Treasure Hunt Outdoor A.Y. Program.

Form 4 or more groups to work together to find clues in this game of treasure hunt.

Before starting this game, have someone explore the area and hide the clues. Each clue can be written on a small piece of paper or on a card. Each clue is simply a Bible verse that makes reference to something in nature that is present in the location. The words of the verse should not be written, to encourage the group to go to their bible to find the text. All groups start with the same clue. Each clue is numbered in order, just in case someone accidentally finds a clue not in the correct sequence of clues.

An example of the first Clue can be Matthew 16:18 "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." The second clue can then be hidden under a rock.

The second clue can be Psalm 1:3 "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper." The location for the third clue could then be in a tree, or specifically a tree near to a body of water, or even a tree that is bearing fruit. The possibilities are endless.

Once a team finds a clue. Encourage them not to make an alarm or a sound of excitement to alert the other groups, but to simply replace the clue back to where it was found and move on to find the remaining clues. The last clue should say that you have completed the challenge successfully.

After the challenge is complete. Each group should choose one of the items in the clues and share

  • How it glorifies God
  • One characteristic of God that it posses
  • One object lesson that you can learn from it.
  • Sing a song that speaks about it.
