Double Portion
(Dedication for Twins or multiple children)
Throughout the Bible, when the Lord shows favor to someone, he gives them what is called a "DOUBLE PORTION."
In Ezekiel 47:13; Thus saith the Lord GOD; This shall be the border, whereby ye shall inherit the land according to the twelve tribes of Israel: Joseph shall have two portions.
In Job 42:10, The LORD restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the LORD increased all that Job had twofold.
Because the Lord blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it, he provided an extra blessing to those who followed the commandment in Exodus 16:22. Now on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one When all the leaders of the congregation came and told Moses.
In Isiah 61:7 it says: Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.
Having multiple children is a blessing that should be seen as an opportunity. God has chosen to give you not one, but two of his souls to nurture, teach, and to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and in favor with God and man. To whom much is given, much is required, so as parents, you are given the enormous task of molding these young lives, who are close replicas of each other in appearance to be perfect replicas of Christ in character. Molding is only possible if you, as parents, also commit your life to walk according to the instructions God has given in His word.
Father, make your home a place of prayer where daily the name of the Lord is lifted in prayer and a song like sweet-smelling incense. The word of God should be repeated and recited daily by *Insert Baby's name*.
Mother, teach*Insert Baby's name* obedience, truth, courtesy, kindness, cleanliness, and diligence in all they do. These traits will be more valuable to life than any other form of education can accomplish.
Pray earnestly for the spirit of the Lord to guide your decisions daily as you learn to be better parents and live an exemplary life before your children.
Today we will dedicate these children to the Lord, promising to do our best as parents, friends, and relatives while depending totally on the grace of the Lord, to ensure that our efforts are visible in the life and future decisions of these beautiful children.
