Hymns Musical- Jesus is Coming (AY)
Individuals to act in a skit, table, chairs and hymnal
Family gathers for worship.
Father: OK everyone, settle down, let us begin our morning worship. Anyone has a hymn they would like us to start with?
Mother: All week number 213 has been playing in my mind. Let us use that song to start worship today.
Father: That sound good, I really love that song - Lift up the trumpet and loud let it ring, Jesus is coming again. Let’s all sing it together.
213 - Jesus is coming again
Mother: I looooove that song, it always reminds me of the hope we have in the second coming of Jesus Christ. A hope that comforts my soul even in the darkest of times.
Father: And it is this hope that sets us apart from those who are not fortunate enough to know Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:19 says “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” But We have this hope that burns within our hearts, hope in the coming of the Lord. You know what, let’s sing that song
214 – We Have This Hope
Son: I know Jesus is coming again, and I have hope that he is coming. But when is he coming? I have heard all my life that Jesus is coming but I am yet to see him, if I knew exactly when he was coming, I would ensure I would be prepared.
Father: Chuckle... Son, it does not work like that, you have to be ready all the time. Imagine if Jesus gave a date, people would be more focused on getting ready for the date than getting ready for Jesus.
Mom: We should always be in a state of readiness because we know not the hour when jesus shall return.
Dad: That is a wonderful song to we can sing next, we know not the hour, this song will tell you why and what we should be doing in the meantime.
604 - We know not the hour
Sister: I cannot wait to get to heaven. To see the streets of gold, the tree of life, the lion laying down with the lamb and just the idea that I will be living forever. Then most of all I will get to meet Jesus amd look at his face. That will be GLORY for me!
Mom: Well then let’s sing about it.
435 - The Glory Song
Brother: Wow heaven will be awesome. I can’t wait to get there.
Dad: But did you know, we won’t be spending eternity in heaven.
Brother and Sister: WHAT?!
Sister: Daddy, what do you mean?
Brother: Daddy please explain this to me.
Dad: Chuckling… Don’t fret my children. We will be living forever, but heaven is where God dwells. He Has prepared a place for us, that place is called New Jerusalem, a city made for us to live, it will be our Eternal home, it is the promised land. This song will tell you more.
Just over the mountain - old hymnal
Brother: Oooh now I remember. In sabbath school, our teacher told us that we would spend 1000 years in heaven and at the end of the 1000 years we would come back to an earth renewed and we will inhabit the new city Jerusalem that will descend from heaven.
Mother: I see you are paying attention in class. You are correct son, and there we will experience Joy forever more. Let’s sing
430 – Joy By and By
Sister: I wish everyone could get the chance to see heaven. It is such an amazing place. But won’t Some people be in hell?
Mom: The hell was made for the devil and his angels, it is not God's will that any should perish, but that all should have eternal life. We should not only strive to get to heaven, but we should also help others get there as well. Do you know what you need to do?
Sister: Tell them about Jesus is Love.
Mom: That is right, the Bible in John 12:32 says: “If I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me”. So all we have to do is live our life like Jesus did when he was here on earth. Helping those in need, sympathizing with those who are going through tough times and just looking out for good of every person living on this earth. In doing that we will be lifting up the name of Christ.
This song should explain this in more detail.
371 Lift Him Up.
Dad: OK kids, it is about time to get ready to go off to school. We have to wrap up a worship now.
Son: One more question dad. What if Jesus doesn't come while I'm alive? What if he comes after I'm dead? Am I going to miss that wonderful spectacle of seeing him descend from heaven, the trumpet, the angels singing, the light of his glory? I really want to be alive when Jesus comes.
Dad: No need to worry son, you won't miss very much, even if you are dead. The Bible tells us that the dead in Christ will be the first to ascend. On that golden morning, all eyes shall see him, from Adam to the last baby that would be born.
This song should help you understand:
205: Gleams of the Golden Morning.
Mom: It is now our responsibility to stay prepared for the second coming of CHrist. Do you remember the story of the 10 virgins?
Sister: Yes, while they were waiting on the bridegroom to come, the 5 foolish virgins ran out of oil for their lamps, but the 5 wise ones had extra oil and were prepared for his coming.
Mom: Correct, let us not become weary in our well doing and keep our lamps burning and our light shining. So when Jesus returns, he will not catch us unprepared.
595 Let Every Lamp be Burning
Mom: Let us pray to close worship
<prayer to seek the lost, live for christ and remain prepared>
